This position is evident when considering that Westcon is the largest Cisco Advanced Technologies Partner globally. Based on this business positioning strategy Westcon Africa has established Comstor and two other strategic business units, namely, Data Centre and Mobility to ensure focus and development of our Vendor and Reseller relations.

The company was formed in late 2007 when Westcon bought the Sparnoon-Dynatech group and Jet Distribution. 

Westcon Africa operates from ten African locations, namely: Angola, Cameroon, Dubai, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, United Kingdom,including a marketing and logistics office in South Africa, with additional logistics offices in the UK and Dubai.

Westcon Africa forms part of the global distribution group of advanced networking and communications convergence products (Westcon and Westcon Emerging Markets); ICT infrastructure solutions and services (Logicalis); and consulting services (Analysys Mason and Intact). Datatec, Westcon Africa's holding company, is registered in South Africa and its shares are listed in Johannesburg and London. The Group has over 4100 employees around the world (as at February 2009) and in the FY09 the group reported revenues of $4.2 billion and operating profit of $91.1 million.
